Covid 19 Protocol

K9 HOME BOARDING

INITIAL MEETING WITH YOUR DOG’S PROPOSED HOST FAMILY DURING THE PANDEMIC

Subject to any local restrictions in place at the time of your arranged visit, please adhere to any specific requirements that your host indicates.  Bear in mind that it may not be possible for you to enter the proposed host’s home; some of our hosts have rear or side access and in this case, you will be invited to view the garden.

It is however crucial that you meet the host and are aware of where your dog(s) will be staying and that the hosts themselves are familiar with your dog(s).  It may be possible for the host to take your dog(s) for a short walk just to establish a connection but please be guided by your hosts’ requirements – we are committed to providing as safe an environment as possible within the limitation of restrictions.

COVID HANDOVER PROTOCOL

For dog owners delivering their dog/s to a host:

Make sure you arrive at the agreed time and telephone your host to let them know you are outside.

If possible, attach your dog’s lead to something close to their front door, place all the dog’s food, bedding etc. close to the front door and then step back at least 2 metres.

The host will then open the door and take the dog and their belongings inside.

On collection, telephone and let the host know you are outside; stand back from their front door and your dog will be brought out to you and, where possible, tied to a suitable place so that you can retrieve them without close contact.  All leftover food, equipment, balls and toys etc. will be in the same container they were delivered in.

Always remember to use hand sanitiser or wash your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds after handling the dog and it’s belongings.

WHEN RETURNING HOME AFTER COLLECTING YOUR DOG(S)

On arrival back home with your dog, you will need to have a damp cloth (such as a ‘J’ cloth) available.  Once safely inside, remove the dog’s collar and lead. wipe its face, head and shoulders and all four paws with the damp cloth and then seal the cloth in a bag before disposing of it in the rubbish.

All equipment will need to be sanitised, usually by spraying with anti-bacterial cleaner and then leaving to air dry.  Please ensure that the anti-bac has dried before you return any collar or other wearable items to the dog.

Always remember to use hand sanitiser or wash your hands with soap and water for 30 seconds after handling the dog and it’s belongings.

REMEMBER: HANDS. FACE, SPACE
